I. Overall Layout and Features
The main building of the Shambhala Kalachakra Cultural Expo Center has 11 floors, standing about 60 meters tall, blending the essence of modern architecture with Tibetan architecture. The entire expo center covers an area of 22 acres, with a building area of 25,131 square meters. The top floor features a white stupa-style gilded dome, exuding grandeur. This is not only a cultural expo center but also a spiritual refuge, allowing visitors to appreciate exquisite exhibits while gaining an in-depth understanding of Tibetan history, culture, and religious beliefs.
II. Exhibition Hall Distribution and Highlights
First Floor, Tibetan Culture and Secret Treasures Exhibition Area: This area displays a rich collection of Tibetan artifacts and treasures, including ancient Tibetan Buddhist ritual implements and ornaments. Each exhibit carries profound cultural significance and ethnic wisdom.
Third Floor, Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition: This showcases precious artifacts such as the ancient swords of Tubo and the Great Tibetan Canon, as well as the unique Tibetan casting technique - water pattern knives, reflecting the unparalleled craftsmanship of Tibetan artisans and the wisdom and diligence of the Tibetan people. Tibetan Weapons Exhibition Hall: This displays the ancient hunting civilization and military culture of Tibet, allowing visitors to appreciate the bravery and intelligence of the Tibetan people.
Fourth Floor, Colorful Shambhala Exhibition Hall: This hall showcases Tibetan clothing, ancient and modern production tools, and daily necessities, vividly presenting the lifestyle and colorful culture of the Tibetan people.
Fifth Floor, Thangka Exhibition Hall: Here, thousands of precious Thangka works are displayed, including a Thangka of 'Atisha Gorge' with a history of over 600 years and a mandala from the 'Four Medical Classics' of Tibetan medicine. Thangka is renowned for its delicate brushwork, rich colors, and profound connotations, making it a treasure of Tibetan art.
Sixth Floor, Eight Major Schools Sutra Hall: This hall focuses on the eight major schools of Tibetan Buddhism, showcasing the richness and diversity of Tibetan Buddhism. Among them is the largest indoor Kalachakra Buddha statue in the country, standing at 21 meters tall and weighing 20 tons, crafted using gilding techniques, magnificent and spectacular.
Eighth Floor, the world's largest indoor 3D Kalachakra Mandala: This mandala has a diameter of 14.23 meters and a height of 7.37 meters, consisting of five layers. Inside are stored grains, rare treasures, Tibetan medicine, scriptures, and sacred objects from major monasteries in Tibet. Every detail of the mandala reflects the exquisite skills and sincere heart of Tibetan artisans, symbolizing the faith and wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism.
Ninth Floor, Observation Deck: This is the best spot to overlook the mandala; visitors can capture stunning perspectives that encompass the magnificent scenery of the mandala.
Eleventh Floor, 360-degree panoramic view: Standing here allows visitors to enjoy breathtaking views of Shangri-La's beauty and feel the grandeur and mystery of nature.
