Development History


1. In August 2014, the 175 hand-painted Tibetan medicine thangkas in the collection of the Shambhala Kalachakra Mandala were certified as the largest by Guinness World Records in Shanghai. These hand-painted works are based on the content of the Tibetan medical classic "Four Medical Treatises," depicting physiological and pathological trees, the Medicine Buddha mandala, diagnostic trees, treatment trees, anatomy, embryology, edible medicinal materials, and more, providing a detailed introduction to the profound knowledge of Tibetan medicine.

2. In August 2014, the collection's pure handmade Tibetan Kalachakra Vajra Buddha was certified as the largest by Guinness World Records in Shanghai. This statue is a four-headed twelve-armed Kalachakra Vajra, made of pure copper with a gilded exterior, crafted by Tibetan folk artisans. It stands 20.5 meters tall, is 13.4 meters wide at its widest point, 7.5 meters thick at its thickest point, weighs 20 tons, and contains approximately 4 tons of internal treasures including scriptures, gold and silver jewelry, medicinal materials, sacred objects, silk, and daily utensils.

3. On March 12, 2015, the three-dimensional mandala of Kalachakra in the Shambhala Kalachakra Mandala project set a world record for being the largest and most exquisitely crafted three-dimensional mandala.

4. On June 21, 2015, the Shambhala Kalachakra Mandala exhibited 1,699 thangkas in a single display, breaking the Guinness World Record. The exhibited thangkas included themes such as the origin of Tibetan people, the Shambhala Kingdom, Tibetan Bon religion, the Four Medical Treatises, biographies of masters from the eight major sects of Tibetan Buddhism, biographies of various Dalai Lamas and Panchen Lamas, biographies of Sakya Pandita Kunga Gyaltsen, biographies of Shakyamuni Buddha, and thangkas depicting all deities of the Kalachakra mandala along with various protectors. These thangkas are finely crafted with diverse styles that vividly showcase Tibetan culture, history, and religious beliefs.

5. On May 28, 2015, the Eleventh Panchen Lama Erdeni Choskyi Gyaltsen personally named it "Shambhala Kalachakra Three-Dimensional Mandala," establishing an extremely auspicious hall in Diqing, Yunnan. Shambhala is an ideal kingdom for rebirth; the Kalachakra mandala is one of its symbols.

6. On October 9, 2020, the Shambhala Kalachakra Mandala scenic area successfully applied for national AAAA-level tourist attraction status.
