Introduction to the Background of the Shambhala Kalachakra Mandala

The Xiangbala Kalachakra Mandala Scenic Area began construction in 2005. After more than ten years of effort, a magnificent and towering building was completed, integrating modern architecture with Tibetan architectural style. It is a comprehensive place for introducing Tibetan culture and Tibetan Buddhism in the Tibetan region. The entire cultural exhibition center covers an area of 22 acres, with a building area of 25,131 square meters. The top level features a white stupa with a gilded dome. The main building has 11 floors, stands about 60 meters tall, and the Xiangbala Kalachakra Mandala Cultural Exhibition Center, which cost nearly 600 million yuan, was basically completed and opened to the public in July 2015.
The Xiangbala Kalachakra Mandala originates from ancient Tibetan Buddhist culture and is one of the core places for Tibetan esoteric practice. The mandala represents the structure of the universe and the ideal of the Buddha realm, embodying the perfect combination of time and space.
